PROPERTY RECOVERED FROM THE PROFESSOR’S LOCKED CASE
Inside the case, investigators discovered a collection of handwritten notes, several labelled potion samples and a sealed envelope.
The notes confirm that, shortly before his death, the professor had discovered that Severus had been secretly developing an experimental potion.
Several ingredients had disappeared from stores in the weeks before the murder. At first, the professor believed the missing supplies were unrelated.
He was wrong.
His final notes show that he had traced every missing ingredient back to Severus.
One entry had been heavily underlined:
“I know what he is making.”
Beneath it, the professor had written:
“If anything happens to me, examine the potion.”
A small vial recovered from the case has now been sent for examination.
But there is one final item.
At the bottom of the case was a folded piece of parchment bearing a single handwritten message:
